Where does Carbon Elixir Salt Remover Concentrate fit into the washing process?

Elixir should be incorporated into your washing process as a two-step pre-wash phase. First, apply Elixir Salt Remover to remove road salt and inorganic road film and do the heavy lifting. After high-pressure washing or rinsing Elixir, use our Ultimus Snow Foam or Ultimus+ Snow Foam to neutralize any remaining chemicals left over from step 1, creating a near-neutral water drainage and removing general dirt and soot deposits.

It is important to make sure that you also clean the undercarriage and chassis components as thoroughly as possible. Salt build-up here tends to be more concentrated and can very easily hide between panel openings or chassis components, accelerating rust and corrosion.

The rubberized bottom seal on classic cars (vintage cars) becomes brittle over time, cracking and exposing the unprotected metal finish. This is where salt and water cause a problem, creeping into the cracks and accelerating rust. Older cars are especially susceptible to this because they were not factory E-coated. This process was not widely introduced in large-scale production until the 1990s.

How do I use Carbon Collective Elixir Salt Remover Concentrate?

Dilutions:

• Deep cleansing (For protection):
  • Via spray bottle: 150 ml to 850 ml of water (pH 4.5)
  • Via foam lance: 200 ml on 800 ml of water (pH 6.5)
• Maintenance Cleaning (Protected with Helix):
  • Via spray bottle: 100 ml to 900 ml of water (pH 6.0)
  • Via foam lance: 100 ml to 900 ml of water (pH 6.7)
  • Via hose adapter: Undiluted (pH 6.5)

1. Application:
   • Use a measuring cup for dilution.
   • Dilute the concentrate according to the recommended dilution levels for the desired cleaning phase (deep cleaning or maintenance cleaning).
   • Apply the diluted solution to the lower part of the vehicle, including wheel arches and chassis. Use a spray bottle, foam lance or hose adapter.
2. Pre-soaking:
   • Allow the applied solution to soak for 10 minutes to effectively break down road salt and other contaminants.
3. Washing process:
   • Add 20 ml of additional additive to your regular wash process in the wash bucket filled with Lusso pH neutral shampoo.
4. Rinse:
   • Rinse the vehicle thoroughly until the rinse water runs clear via a pressure washer.
5. Optional step for deep cleaning:
   • For stubborn salt build-up, use a stronger dilution at first use to remove long-lasting salt residue.
6. Protection after cleaning:
   • After rinsing, we recommend protecting the vehicle with our Helix Anti-Corrosion Spray.
